Class begins with a series of Gentle stretches and gradually moves into Restorative poses. Restorative Yoga encourages physical, mental and emotional relaxation by nourishing to the nervous system. Options are given and props such as bolsters, blocks and blankets are used to accommodate individual needs, as we bring the body into an asana (pose) without strain or much effort. Class is structured around maintaining and increasing mobility, without causing strain or discomfort to the muscles and joints of the body. This class is appropriate for all levels including those with limited movement. Breath work and deep relaxation are included

Kalyani’s classes combine the six branches of yoga so students can experience a complete range of benefits. Certified through Integral Yoga of Richmond with Nora Vimala Pozzi in 1999. Specialty trainings include Mindful Yoga Therapy for Veterans with Suzanne Manafort, Elyse Browning Miller’s Yoga for Scoliosis Program. She has conducted workshops “Yoga For The Low Back†, “Japa Yogaâ€, “Yoga for Nutrition†for Teacher Trainees as well as registered teachers so they could receive hours towards their certification. Karma yoga, includes Bon Air Correctional Facility, teen center at the Northside YMCA, Steward School, and Virginia Rehabilitation Center for Visually Impaired, Heartfulness Center, various festivals. She is also brings Mindful Yoga Therapy (Trauma Informed) to veterans coping with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
